When installing a repository or a add-on for Kodi there are many ways you can do this providing on what your device is capable of.

We are going to show you 4 ways of how to install zip file / repositories to a kodi device.

As you can see if your running Kodi on your PC/Mac , head to your c: drive and install from there, your default setting on your PC/Mac is to always save downloads in your download folder. If you change this, just navigate to that folder and you’ll find your zip file.

If you have a device that has a USB function you can stick your dongle in and retrieve your zip file there.

HOME FOLDER

The home folder is where you can access your device over your network and therefore can place your zip files inside one of the home folders. Just search the folder where you dropped it and install. ie; the downloads folder in home folder

The File Manger is used when the zip file / repository is a URL type. Simple add the URL repository given and enable the desired add-on from it.

  1. Could you also please explain how one can access a zip add on file from an iPhone or iPad? I am unable to figure out how to first get the zip file to the iPad, download it, and then access it from Kodi. Tried attaching it to an email message and trying to download it, but no go. Any suggestion would be truly appreciated. Thanks.

  2. Nice and helpful article, I tried installing repository ZIP file on wifi directly on RPI, and also through USB pend drive. In both cases, RPI does not install, !!
    Thanks in advance for any solution
